It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing this afternoon of Rebbetzin Miriam Rokeach of Bilgorai a”h. She was 96 years old and passed away at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim.
The Rebbetzin was the mother of the Belzer Rebbe, her only child. The Rebbe will be the only person sitting shivah; this is the first time in his life that he will be sitting shivah.
The levaya is expected to take place at 8:30 p.m. tonight from the main Belzer Bais Medrash in Kiryas Belz, Yerushalayim. She will be buried on Har Hamenuchos.
The Rebbetzin was the wife of Rav Mordechai of Bilgorai, brother of Rav Aharon of Belz. Born in Satmar, Romania, she got married in Nissan תש”ז. She lived near her son for decades, moving with him to Kiryas Belz in Yerushalayim 15 years ago when he relocated there.
