rav Moshe FeigelstockIt is with great sadness that we report the sudden passing of Rav Moshe Feigelstock zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Tiferes Elimelech.

Rav Feigelstock was a renowned marbitz Torah who founded and led one of the most prominent yeshivos in the Torah world for many decades. A true pedagogue, Rav Feigelstock had the unique ability to nurture and bring out the potential of young bnei Torah, at the same time serving as a model of the ben Torah of old, with the age-old values and Torah ideals of the previous generation.

He maintained a pure hashkafah and was unwavering in his adherence to the mesorah he espoused, imparting lessons that have impacted the lives of his many talmidim, who carry on his legacy.

The nonagenarian rosh yeshiva fled from all honor and recognition throughout his life. Despite leading a prominent Torah institution, he carried himself humbly and in a self-effacing manner. He shunned kavod and sought no recognition for his outstanding accomplishments in harbotzas haTorah.

Rav Feigelstock first served as the menahel at Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim on the West Side of Manhattan for many years before opening his yeshiva in Boro Park.

His yeshiva, Tiferes Elimelech, features two branches, the yeshiva ketana and mesivta, located in Boro Park, and the bais medrash led by Rav Nissin Goodman, which is located in Staten Island.

Rav Feigelstock just recently celebrated the wedding of his grandson, a son of his son, Rav Avrohom Feigelstock. He served as mesader kiddushin and had been feeling okay. His sudden passing has plunged his thousands of talmidim and the greater Torah world into mourning.

Rav Feigelstock’s brothers are Rav Yitzchok Feigelstock, the rosh yeshiva of Mesivta of Long Beach in Long Beach, NY, and Rav Hershel Feigelstock, is rosh yeshivah of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Montreal.

The levayah will be held this afternoon, at 4 p.m., at the Yeshiva Tiferes Elimelech mesivta building, located at 1650 56th Street, between 16th and 17th Avenues in Boro Park. Kevurah will follow at the bais olam in Woodbridge, NJ.

Yehi zichro boruch.
