It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rebbetzin Yaffa Malin-Hubner a”h.
Rebbetzin Yaffa was the wife of Rav Aryeh Leib Malin, the famed talmid of Mir Poland who was the founding rosh yeshivah of Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud, first in East New York and later in Bensonhurst.
Rebbetzin Yaffa was a daughter of Rav Dovid Dov Kreiser, av bais din of Greive and a maggid shiur in Kletsk. (Her sister, Rebbetzin Chaya Tzipora, was the wife of Rav Dovid Povarsky zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak.)
In 1948, Rebbetzin Yaffa married Rav Leib, a renowned gadol baTorah who founded Bais Hatalmud modeled on the Mir of prewar Europe, serving as a continuation of the Volozhin yeshiva, Slabodka yeshiva, and Mir yeshiva of old.
In 1962, Rav Leib passed away at age 56.
The rebbetzin’s second husband, Rav Hubner, passed away some years ago.
The rebbetzin passed away at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim. The levaya is being held at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, to be followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.
