In a tragedy compounding a tragedy, a yungerman in Bnei Brak, R’ Yitzchok Meir (Itzik) Weiss z”l, has passed away, suddenly collapsing in the middle of shivah for his young son, who was niftar last week. He was 31 years old.

Paramedics were called to the shivah house on Rechov Bagno, where they performed prolonged CPR on Reb Itzik. He was taken Sheba Medica Center in Tel Hashomer, where he ultimately passed away.

R’ Itzik was born in Be’er Sheva on 7 Iyar, 1988, to his parents, Reb Shimshon and Mrs. Esther Perel Weiss.

As a youngster, he studied at Talmud Torah Zichron Meir in Bnei Brak, then at Yeshiva Bais Dovid. Later, he learned at Yeshivas Mir Brachfeld.

His wife, Ruti, is a daughter of Rav Avrohom Weisblum, mashgiach at Yeshiva Orchos Torah, and a granddaughter of Rav Uri Weisblum, mashgiach at Yeshiva Nachlas Haleviim.

Less than five months ago, R’ Itzik and his wife celebrated the birth of their firstborn son, who was named Yisroel. Last Thursday, the baby lost consciousness while he was with his caregiver. Yisroel later passed away, plunging the family into mourning.

R’ Itzik is described by friends as one who was “always loved by everyone. Whenever he could help someone, he was there. He was a dedicated yungerman, immersed in limud haTorah, and a devoted baal chesed, learning with yesomim and others.”

R’ Itzik is survived by his parents, his brothers and sisters, and his wife, Ruti, will now be sitting shivah for her husband and her son.

The levayah will be held at 8 p.m. at the Divrei Chaim shul on Rechov Chulda Haneviah in the Shikun Gimmel neighborhood of Bnei Brak. He will be buried in the nearby bais hachaim next to his zaide, Rav Yosef Yom Tov Weiss.

Umacha Hashem dimah me’al kol ponim.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy plans on attending the Siyum Hashas, Shlomo Schorr reports.
The Siyum, which will be held on January 1st, will take place in MetLife stadium, which is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The stadium, which was built in 2010, was financed by the New York Jets and Giants. But the state of New Jersey owns the land at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, which includes Metlife, the Meadowlands
Racetrack, the new American Dream mall and other sports facilities.
The entire complex is managed by the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, the public agency that manages the land under MetLife stadium. During regular season football games, the Authority and the Governor’s office each have use of a luxury box which they got as as part of the deal that gave control of the stadium to the Jets and the Giants in 2006.
The MetLife box — as well as use of other stadium suites around the state, including the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel — are perks that come with winning the Governor’s office, just like use of the governor’s mansion in Princeton, an annual entertainment allowance and summer houses at Island Beach State Park.
Governor Murphy also held his inaugural ball in the stadium shortly after being sworn in as Governor on January 16, 2018.

Security a High Priority as The Siyum Draws Near

By Sandy Eller

With the completion of the 13th Daf Yomi cycle just days away, the upcoming Siyum HaShas will take its place in the history books as not only the largest celebration of limud Torah but also, b’ezras Hashem, the safest.

The Siyum’s chief operating officer, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Golding, has been working closely with over fifty law enforcement agencies including the New Jersey State Police, New Jersey Department of Homeland Security, New York City Police Department, the New York City Mayor’s Office, the FBI and others to ensure the highest level of security at both MetLife Stadium and Barclays Center. Over 300 uniformed police officers will be positioned at MetLife Stadium alone, with countless others, including many who will not be visible to the public, stationed at multiple locations in and around the area.

MetLife Stadium will be on full lockdown from the conclusion of a Sunday afternoon sporting event until the start of The Siyum as crews transition the stadium for the massive event. The NJSP will be at 100 percent deployment for The Siyum, with security at a level described by Captain Peter Velez as “a football game on steroids.”

“Law enforcement officials have said that the safest place to be in New Jersey on January 1st will actually be inside MetLife Stadium,” said Rabbi Golding.

Over the past six months, numerous meetings and planning sessions have also been held with stadium personnel, local EMS supervisors and Hatzolah, who will be on hand for The Siyum. Agudah board of trustees member Chaskel Bennett, The Siyum’s official liaison to Hatzolah, noted that a highly detailed emergency action plan has been created and fine tuned by experienced medical professionals under the supervision of Fran Guthrie and Tony Vaguerio of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority’s EMS team and Hatzolah coordinator Bentzy Lebovitz, with a goal of ensuring public safety.

“While the Agudah is well known for its attention to detail and professionalism when it comes to programming, there are multiple other tracks that will be operating concurrently at The Siyum including security, medical and stadium operations,” said Mr. Bennett. “The public can feel confident that all of the appropriate agencies are on board and are working collaboratively in the exhaustive planning so that The Siyum can proceed smoothly and safely.”

In Honor of the Yahrtzeit Rav Ahron Leib Shteinman ZT”L Ohel Sarala to Host Evening of Inspiration

[COMMUNICATED]

This Sunday, Erev Chanukah, will be the Yahrtzeit of Rav Ahron Leib Shteinman ZT”L, who along with ybl”c Harav Chaim Kanievsky Shlit”a founded the vision for Ohel Sarala.

In honor of the Yahrtzeit, This Motzei Shabbos, Ohel Sarala and Bonei Olam will host their second Evening of Inspiration. The livestream will feature renowned speaker, Rabbi Yossi Bensousan.

The Livestream will begin at 9 PM right here, and at www.ohelsarala.org. It can also be accessed on the phone by calling 602-609-9322.

To join Ohel Sarala and receive your Ohel Sarala Tehillim, click HERE.

The Story of Ohel Sarala:

It all began when Rabbi Shlomo Bochner, founder of Bonei Olam, visited Hagaon Reb Aron Leib Shteinman, zatzal. Rav Shteinman told Rabbi Bochner that there are two challenges facing Klal Yisroel that allow him no peace of mind – singles seeking shidduchim and couples struggling to have a child. Both have no children.

The Torah itself shows that the two are related, said the Rosh Yeshiva. Only after Sarah Imeinu gave Hagar to Avraham Avinu, saying “Ulai ibaneh mimenah, perhaps I will be built from her” (Beraishis 16:2),” did Hashem send the malach to tell her that she would give birth. The Torah is teaching us middah k’neged middah. When a person assists someone else with having a child, there is a havtacha that he will also merit a child. And since a person can only have a child through marriage, said the Rosh Yeshiva, helping someone have a child is a zechus for a single to find a zivug. Rav Shteinman advised Rabbi Bochner to give singles an opportunity to help waiting couples financially. Such an arrangement, he said, would harness the power of middah k’neged midah, and would open a channel of great brachah.

A short while afterward, Rabbi Bochner related this conversation to Rabbi Aryeh Ginzberg. Rabbi Ginzberg and his wife had been seeking a project to undertake in memory of their daughter, Sarala, a”h. Taking Harav Shteinman’s words to heart, they founded Ohel Sarala as a zechus for the neshamah of their daughter, a”h, who didn’t merit to get married or have children. Ohel Sarala matches singles with couples waiting for children.

The process is simple. The singles sign up through Ohel Sarala; the couples are reached through Bonei Olam. The singles make a donation to designated couple being helped by Bonei Olam. Then, following Chazal’s dictum of hamispallel b’ad chaveiro ne’eneh techilah, the singles and couples daven for each other. People donate anything from small amounts to $10,000.
Ohel Sarala has raised significant funds for Bonei Olam, so that collectively, the singles are fulfilling Sarah Imeinu’s words, “ulei ibaneh memenah.” Ohel Sarala has a beautiful website where people can sign up to join, and view powerful speeches and articles.

The entire project is completely anonymous. The singles and couples get only a Hebrew name to daven for.

Today, Ohel Sarala has been part of over an astonishing 203 babies and 742 shiduchim.

THE TZADDIK’S BRACHA: Chain of Simchos Follows Visit of Two Bochurim to Rav Chaim Kanievsky

Two chassidishe bochurim in their 20s entered the residence of Rav Chaim Kanievsky on Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak a few weeks ago and each asked for a bracha for a shidduch. One of the bochurim related that he has three sisters above him who are in need of shidduchim and he asked for a bracha for them as well.

Rav Chaim instructed them to learn Maseches Bava Basra – and to complete it in one day.

Bava Basra is the largest masechta in Shas.

But the gadol hador had instructed.

So they returned to Yerushalayim, from where they came, and sat down to study Maseches Bava Basra all night as Rav Chaim instructed.

Within short order, the family of one of the bochurim experienced a chain of simchos. The bochur’s first sister got engaged two weeks ago, the second last week, and the third this week – to the other bochur who had gone to Rav Chaim for the bracha.

Now remaining is the final bochur, the one who had three older sisters.

A member of Rav Chaim’s household explained why he instructed that they learn Bava Basra. “”There are times that people say that ‘until I finish Bava Basra, it will take a long time,’ so Rav Chaim responds that in one day it can be completed. The bochurim, with all their hearts, believed in the bracha and took it seriously, finishing the masechta within a day and seeing a salvation.”

Bechadrei Chareidim reports that Rav Chaim writes in his sefer Orchos Yoser that even in today’s times, if one believes in the brachos of the righteous, they are fulfilled.
