Given rising anti-Semitic tensions following high-profile attacks in the greater New York region, security is a top priority for the Siyum Hashas.

“There will be over 300 uniformed state police in the stadium, and that’s just the visible ones,” said Rabbi Yosef C. Golding, Chief Operating Officer of the Siyum Hashas.

Rabbi Golding said he has fielded calls from ticket holders about the event, which takes place days and weeks after high-profile attacks have been made on Jews.

As the Siyum Hashas approaches, Rabbi Golding said security at MetLife Stadium will be on the level of a presidential visit. The East Rutherford stadium, Golding said, will be “the safest place to be on January first.” Read more at North Jersey.com.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Yitzchok Grodzensky zt”l, rosh kollel of Kollel Toras Avrohom of Bnei Brak. He was 91.

Rav Yitzchok was a son of Rav Avrohom and Rebbetzin Chaya Gisa Grodzensky Hy”d. Rav Avrohom, the mashgiach of the Slabodka Yeshiva in Europe, was one of the leading baalei mussar in pre-war Lithuania and one of the foremost talmidim of the Alter of Slabodka.

Rebbetzin Chaya Gisa was a daughter of Rav Dov Hirsch Heller.

Rav Yitzchok’s sisters were married some of the foremost figures of Torah Jewry: Rav Chaim Kreiswirth zt”l, Rav Shlomo Wolbe zt”l and Rav Baruch Rosenberg zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka.

Rav Yitzchok recalled Rav Elchonon Wasserman and Rav Yisroel Yaakov Lubchansky learning and staying at his father’s home. He was also present when Rav Elchonon was taken away to his death.

Two of his brothers were killed in his father’s lifetime. His oldest brother, R’ Eliezer, was led away on the 25th of Av, 5701 together with some 500 men, never to be seen again. His third brother, R’ Zev, a talmid of the Telshe and Slabodka yeshivos was killed together with Rav Elchon Wasserman on 12 Tammuz, 5701. His sister, Miriam, was killed when a grenade destroyed her bunker when the ghetto was liquidated. His brother, R’ Yisroel z”l, met his death in a tragic accident in the Kaufering camp near Munich on the 23rd of Teves, 5705, and was buried there in a mass grave.

After the war, Rav Yitzchok traveled to Eretz Yisroel via Italy. He studied at Yeshivas Chevron and Yeshivas Be’er Yaakov. He married his wife, Miriam, a daughter of Rav Mordechai Alter Zelivansky, and served as a mashgiach at Yeshivas Tiferes Tzion in Bnei Brak.

He merited to have a kesher with the Chazon Ish zt”l. He served as rosh kollel of Kollel Torah Avrohom in the Ramat Aharon neighborhood together with Rav Aryeh Abrahams.

Rav Yitzchok was a neighbor of Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman zt”l on Rechov Chazon Ish.

Rav Yitzchok is survived by a family of marbitzei Torah. His son-in-law is Rav Bentzion Kook, rov of Central Petach Tikvah and rosh Bais Horaah Haklali in Yerushalayim.

The levayah will be held tomorrow.

Yehi zichro boruch.
