LIVE: Dirshu Siyum Hashas in Manchester
The preparations for the Dirshu Siyum Hashas in Manchester, England, are currently nearing completion. However, due to unanticipated demand the tickets were already sold out within a few hours of going on sale, and at least 1000 Mancunian Jews who wanted to participate received a message that it would not be possible. Yesterday, the organization’s production company announced that with great efforts, another 1000 places have been added to the Siyum.
The Dirshu staff estimate that the exceptional demand for the Siyum Hashas emanates from the fact that this is a historic event in the city, with the Siyum Hashas being held by Dirshu with great pomp and splendor in honor of the Torah and those who study it, for the first time. The magnificent, central Siyum will take place on 8 Teves 5780 at EventCity, the largest and grandest venue in Manchester which has thousands of seats. The event will be attended by Maranan Verabbonon, shlita.
The guest of honor will be Harav Hagaon Rav Aharon Schifff, Gaabad of the Machzikei Hadas kehilla in Antwerp, and with the participation of Harav Hagaon Rav Nissan Kaplan, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Daas Aharon in Har Nof, Yerushalayim, and Harav Hagaon Rav Pinchas Schneebalg from London, son of the mara d’asra Hagaon Harav Rav Menachem Mendel Schneebalg, shlita.
“We didn’t anticipate the number of requests, and therefore we currently have a problem regarding the number of those wishing to participate who we need to disappoint,” relates Reb Yanki Silber, one of the event producers. “We are talking about a historic event never yet seen in Manchester, an event to honor Torah with the participation of all the rabbis, and it seems the community was so excited about the fact that there are so many mesaymim that everyone wanted to come.”
As noted, the organizers have succeeded in adding an extra 1000 places in the hall over the last few days. “The challenge wasn’t easy,” explains Reb Shneur Fleishman, the production manager. “There was a lot of bureaucracy around it, to do with emergency exits, security authorizations, and more. We are delighted that we succeeded with siyata d’Shmaya, and will be able to open the doors to all of Jewish Manchester who will participate in the event of historic dimensions, for the honor of Torah, the likes of which have never yet been seen in the history of the city.”

Rav Yitzchok Grodzinsky in a Dream: “I Am Already in Gan Eden”
The dream that stirred Bnei Brak:
Last Tuesday, near midnight, Rav Yitzchok Grodzinsky zt”l, rosh kollel of Kollel Toras Avrohom of Bnei Brak, passed away at age 91.
Rav Yitzchok was a son of Rav Avrohom and Rebbetzin Chaya Gisa Grodzensky Hy”d. Rav Avrohom, the mashgiach of the Slabodka Yeshiva, was one of the leading baalei mussar in pre-war Lithuania and one of the foremost talmidim of the Alter of Slabodka.
On Thursday, a grief-stricken friend of the niftar from the town of Kovno, Rav Yitzchok Gibraltar, known for the seforim of bitachon and emunah that he authored following the Holocaust, visited the shivah home.
Rav Gibraltar related that on Tuesday evening, he retired to bed early and did not even know about the passing of his friend, Rav Grodzinsky. In the middle of the night, Rav Yitzchok came to him and, seeming happy, told him, “I am already in Gan Eden.”
Rav Gibralter said he was alarmed and asked his sons what had happened. They told him that Rav Grodzinsky had been niftar Tuesday night.
Rav Gibraltar told this over at the shivah, causing a great deal of excitement.
One person at the shivah home told Kikar Shabbos, “This was invigorating. There are always stories of dreams from third- and fourth-hand parties, but here, in first-hand testimony, Rav Gibralter related what he dreamed, that there was no doubt that the righteous had reached his place of honor in Shomayim.”
“Not for nothing did the deceased get to come in a dream and say that he was already in Gan Eden,” said Rav Dov Landau, the Slabodka rosh yeshiva. “He was a pillar of tefillah and humility.”

Rav Dov Shternbuch zt”l
It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Dov Shternbuch zt”l. He was 96.
Today, at about noon, Rav Dov ascended the stairs at Kollel Volozhin at the Yeshiva Gaon Yaakov building on Rechov Nechemiah, as he was on his way to daven Mincha, and he suddenly collapsed. Hatzolah was called to the scene.
Rav Dov was born in London. His father was Rav Asher Shternbuch and his mother was Rebbetzin Devorah Shternbuch, a daughter of Rav Shlomo Zalman Pines, author of sefer Pines Shlomo. He was a descendant of the Vilna Gaon.
He learned at the yeshiva of Rav Moshe Yehudah Schneider in London and later served as a teacher at the Gateshead Seminary. Rav Dov was a chavrusah of Rav Avrohom Gurwicz, today rosh yeshiva of the Gateshead Yeshiva.
All his life, he carried himself modestly. He was a tremendous talmid chochom who knew Shas on his fingertips.

Rav Dov was a brother of Rav Elya Shternbuch zt”l of Antwerp and Rav Moshe Shternbuch shlit”a, raavad of the Eidah Hachareidis.
He is survived by his rebbetzin and their family.
